Are you organized and on task?

All 3 of my kids attend elementary school. They have a great program called ‘Rock stars’. It is a non-academic reward program that encourages the students to develop super important skills and characteristics that will help them lead a more successful and productive life later on. The word ROCK stands for:

R – Respectful.

O – Organized and on task.

C – Caring.

K – Knowledgeable.

I believe these are the very foundation stones to building your successful business! Let me explain ….

Respectful – being respectful to your customers is very important. It will determine how THEY will treat you! And more importantly, how they will talk to others about your business. How do you show them respect? Always answer promptly and quickly. Don’t leave your customers hanging cause by the time you do answer they have already moved on … Treat every customer like they are the most important ones around. Let them feel comfortable, and not like they are bothering you with their tiring questions. Try to compliment them if possible – a customer who feels good about themselves will more likely want to place an order. Offer a coupon code :)

Always be the last one the end a conversation, to make sure your customers know you have read and regarded all their messages.

Organized and on task – my husband always makes fun of my immaculate schedule. Working from home and being your own boss really requires you to be super organized, otherwise work will not be done on time.

I run multiple shops on Etsy and other e-commerce websites. It is extremely easy to get lost in all of the daily tasks that need to be done on a deadline. Being able to recognize and distinguish your priorities will eventually determine your business’s future success.

Although you need to sometimes be a little creative and flexible, having a solid, strong and clear schedule base is fundamental.

In order to always be on top of things, I recommend writing and planning ahead so nothing gets forgotten.

Caring – care about who surrounds you and your business. Don’t steal other artisan’s work. I am sure you wouldn’t want others stealing your work either. Care about the environment by choosing Eco-friendly materials and supply. Care about the websites you work with by preserving their laws, restrictions and guidelines. Most of them were created in order to protect us sellers and our work.

Knowledgeable – We live in a fast world. Every single day, new inventions are being created and the online world is rapidly evolving. If you wish to keep up with progress, you must read relevant articles and get constant updates on related matters. It can be taunting and time consuming, but you just can’t afford to miss out on any priceless information.

With that being said, my work day is now over and I need some “me” time …
