5 reasons why you absolutely must start using Shop Updates!

Shop updates Is a relatively new feature on the SellOnEtsy app. It allows you to upload images, connect them to a specific listing in your shop, add your own text and then share it with your Etsy admirers and social media followers.

Sounds great? Well yes, it is.

Here are the top 5 reasons why you should start (in case you haven’t so far) using this feature on a daily, or at least weekly basis:

1. It’s super easy! And I mean it. All you have to do is make sure you have the image you want to share stored on your phone. From that point on, it is a step by step process. Choose Shop updates from your account menu, upload an image, connect it to your desired item in your shop, add your own text and submit. Yep, that it.

2. Your shop stats

You are able to monitor your shop updates activity on your own shop stats. A little blue triangle will appear below the graph, exactly as it does for FB and Twitter posts, renews and more. This way you are able to see whether your updates are effective or not.

You can even see how many of the total views at a certain point were directly from Shop updates.

Would you like to do an even more thorough analysis? Keep strolling down your shop’s stats. In the table below the graph you can see your traffic sources, and where on Etsy they are coming from to your shop. Etsy Home page is one indication that Shop updates works since they are being featured there for your shop’s admirers.

And last, take a look at your most active and viewed listings. If you see at the top of that list, the very item you connected to the update – you know it works!

3. Sharing is caring – There is so much you can share with your Etsy admirers. They want to see more of your work. They want to see behind the scene photos. 4. Social media – Bringing traffic from outside of Etsy is becoming more and more important and significant. I always recommend – when selling on line, you must have a strong online presence. Create a strong brand that shoppers can relate to and trust. Create interest in you and your work. It might take some time to build but is totally worth it.

5. Etsy promotion – Etsy would like you to use Shop Updates. Why? Because it distinguishes them from other ecommerce websites. It brings artists to the spot light. It tells a story. How are they going to encourage sellers to use this feature? Put it on the Home page is one way.

When doing so, shoppers who favored your shop in the past, can see your updates. It is a great reminder for them that your shop still exists.
